Rentals follow 10 stages, from request and approval through delivery, inspection, active use, return, settlement and feedback. Renters must report issues during the inspection window; lenders have 14 days after the end date to confirm return or raise an invoice.
Rental steps
Every rental follows the same 10 steps:
- Rental request: The lender has 48 hours to accept. If they don't, the request expires automatically.
- Approved: The lender dispatches the item at least 24 hours before the start date, or arranges a handover.
- In transit / handed over: The item is on its way, or has been handed over in person.
- Inspection window open: The renter checks the item and reports any problems, or reports that it hasn't arrived.
- Rental active: The renter has the item for the rental period.
- Return due: The renter sends the item back.
- Item sent back: The item is on its way back to the lender.
- Return inspection window open: The lender confirms the item came back safely, or raises an invoice.
- Leave feedback: Both sides can review the rental.
- All done: The rental is complete.
What's changed?
- Inspection window on receipt. Renters must inspect the item and report any problems within the inspection window, which opens on the start date. If the window closes without a report, you can no longer dispute that rental.
- Mandatory tracking. Before moving onto the next stage, the tracking must be entered to mark the rental as shipped.
- Confirmation of return. Once the lender marks the return as complete, the rental settles and the funds move to the lender's balance.
- 14-day settlement window. After the rental end date, the lender has 14 days to confirm safe return, raise an invoice or report an issue. After that, the rental is closed in the app.
Are the steps different for renters and lenders?
The steps are the same, but each side has different actions:
- Renters: inspect the item on arrival, report any problems, return the item on time, and leave feedback.
- Lenders: accept the request, dispatch the item, confirm safe return or raise an invoice, and leave feedback.
