We have been reviewing the latest research on COVID-19 and there is currently no evidence that it can be transmitted from soft surfaces like clothing to humans.

The latest guidance from the World Health Organization is that it is safe to receive packages, including clothing.

Based on this we are making the following recommendations:

If you are self-isolating according to NHS guidelines and:

  1. Have a rented item in your possession: please retain the item and contact By Rotation support.
  2. Are due to lend out an item: please inform the renter and cancel the request until you are no longer self-isolating.

If you have had a rental request cancelled by a lender as they are self-isolating please contact By Rotation support and we will assist you right away in arranging an alternative item or refund.

If you have received an item that you are concerned about please By Rotation support.

As always we do not charge cancellation fees more than 48 hours before a rental period begins. If you wish to cancel inside the 48-hour window due to COVID-19 concerns please contact By Rotation support and we will assist you right away.

If you still wish to continue with a rental, please confirm that both parties are happy to proceed. Do not meet in person to exchange any items. We encourage you to only post out items when it is safe to do so, and we strongly recommend you use home collection or courier services if you need to send an item.

Latest recommendations on cleaning items:

The latest NHS advice does not make any recommendation to change how you clean your clothes to prevent transmission of COVID-19. Clean your clothing as you normally would using detergent or soap.

We advise both parties to wash non-dry-clean items using the warmest appropriate water setting for the items and dry items completely before rental.

If the item needs to be dry cleaned, please return the item in a bag that is either sealed or taped closed. This package can then be dry cleaned if and when it is safe to do so.

This advice will be updated regularly in accordance with the latest public health research and advice. You will always be able to find the latest version of our advice on this page, and we will contact the community if there are significant developments. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email us.
